Uxua Casa Hotel

Uxua’s ten private villas are laid out around the hotel’s leafy gardens and sleep between two and six people. The three villas facing the quadrado are set within restored fisherman houses, one villa is an ecological treehouse while the other villas have been built to resemble luxurious beach huts. All of the houses were designed in collaboration with local artisans and are filled with antiquities, Bahian artwork and furniture in a clever blend of rustic and modern design.

In keeping with the idea of creating a home from home for their guests, all of the villas contain full kitchens, private gardens, indoor or outdoor living rooms, open-air bathrooms, king-size beds, wireless internet and satellite TV. The most luxurious casas have private plunge pools, jacuzzis, hanging terraces and even a private dining space on the Quadrado itself.

While you could easily spend all of your time within the privacy of your own casa, Uxua’s common areas are equally as inviting. Set within the calm and quiet gardens is a large ‘quartz pool’ made entirely of 40 0000 pieces of green aventurine quartz and a large bar and restaurant. A separate building houses a gym, spa and fitness class room.

The other main advantage to staying at Uxua is the beach lounge on the Praia do Trancoso. It has private showers and sun loungers reserved for each guest. The bar serves delicious seafood and Bahian specialities and, most importantly, caiprinhas mixed on request.

This hotel impresses on every level but the only reservation we would have is that in high season guests staying in the front ‘casas’ facing the Quadrado may be disturbed by noise from the square.
