Salvador da Bahia

An insider's guide to Salvador da Bahia featuring hotels, reviews, rates and activities to do.

Mike and Ilene

We helped Mike and Ilene prepare a trip for 3 weeks to travel around Brazil and to try and soak up a bit of the cultural heritage and the main sites of the country's coast. They started in Rio and then moved up to the forest reserve of Ibitipoca and then onto the coast at Salvador, Paraty and Buzios. By all accounts they had a good trip! Please read on to how it went.

Sheraton da Bahia

The Sheraton da Bahia is a large international style hotel in Salvador's Campo Grande district and is generally a choice for business travellers rather than leisure travellers.

Zank Hotel

The Zank Hotel is a modern boutique hotel located in Salvador's bohemian district of Rio Vermelho. Set up on a steep hill overlooking the Atlantic coast and the Paciência beach, this hotel has a light and modern feel to it, with big glass windows and wide decked terraces, perfect for sipping a caiprinha at the end of the day!

Villa Bahia

Villa Bahia is an excellent choice for anyone looking to stay in the heart of Salvador’s historic Pelourinho district; Salvador’s UNESCO World Heritage listed quarter. With beautifully decorated rooms, welcoming and attentive staff, delicious food and, of course, a great location, Villa Bahia prides itself on offering an authentic Bahian experience for its guests.

Convento do Carmo

The Convento do Carmo is Salvador’s most luxurious and exclusive hotel. Set within a restored convent the hotel is a haven of calm and tranquility from the busy and humid city outside. Boasting a long list of famous names on its guest books, there’s no doubt that this is the place to stay in Salvador if you are looking for a relaxing retreat.

Casa do Amarelindo

The Casa do Amarelindo is a small luxury boutique hotel right in the heart of the Pelourinho district of Salvador, with views of the Baía de Todos os Santos.
